For our next review, we head out to Dragon Express who now has dim sum on their menu. In a city that has a major shortage on dim sum, we stopped by to see whether it was worthy of being added to our lunch rotation.

For starters, what is dim sum? It is a style of Chinese cuisine prepared as small bite-sized portions of food served in small steamer baskets or on small plates. Tom’s Lotus Garden is one of the very few restaurants in town that serves dim sum on the weekends.
Dragon Express is a quick service Chinese restaurant that serves many common dishes found at nearly any Chinese restaurant. The food has always been generally good but no different from some other Chinese restaurants in town. While stopping in one afternoon, I noticed they had a limited dim sum menu available.
I ordered the BBQ pork bun, shrimp dumpling, sesame seed ball and chinese green onion pancake.
Too make a long story short, we were not impressed with our entire order. The chinese green onion pancake was a major letdown. It was greasy and bland. The BBQ pork bun was on the dry side, the shrimp dumplings had an undesirable stench to them and the sesame seed balls were probably the best just by default. Not a single person at work was pleased with it either. We ended up throwing the rest away.
Ordering from their regular menu has never been an issue for us and that’s what we will likely stick to in the future. For a quick service restaurant, their sautéed roasted duck is very good. Their dim sum however, not worth it.
