We made another stop to the Kansas Grown Farmers’ Market at 21st & Ridge Road over the weekend. While browsing through all local vendors on hand, it was tough to narrow our choice down to one purchase but my friend pointed out one that her mother loved. So that brings us to our latest local spotlight on Bontrager Pastries.

Bontrager Pastries is a small family run farm out of Hutchinson, KS. They sell such treats as pies, cinnamon rolls and bread. There were all sorts of flavors to choose from like rhubarb, cherry, peach, among other flavors.
On our visit, we purchased a cinnamon roll and the jalapeno cheese bread. I’m kicking myself for not buying the bigger loaf of bread because it is insanely good. Upon arriving home, my friend and I dug immediately into the bread. It was light, fluffy, and contained a decent amount of jalapeno inside that offered the jalapeno flavor without the heat. We could only imagine amazing it would be fresh out of the oven.
The next day, I would boast to some friends about their bread. One of my buddies said he goes to the Farmers Market quite a bit specifically for Bontrager Pastries’ pies which made me kick myself again more. Based on that information, I will be going back again next weekend to pick up a pie and more bread again.
