At the core of it, I am a nerd. So when I see something nerdy to do, odds are I will do it.
My friends and brother stopped by the Grinning Gobling Gaming Tavern a couple of weeks ago. They are a little tavern that has board games, computer stations and videogame systems people can play for free. They have a full bar as well as a food menu. Food? Games? Sounds right up my alley!

The Grinning Goblin Gaming Tavern is very spacious inside with plenty of room to grab a board game to play with friends. While I do not partake in Dungeons and Dragons, there were many tables playing that as well. In regards to videogames, there are a handful of stations with multiple systems connected to those TV’s. They have all the major new and nostalgic videogame systems on hand to play. If there is a specific game you’re wanting to play, just leave your ID with the person at the desk.
They had a vast collection of board games and videogames to choose from. The gaming stations though were very limited and there didn’t appear to be any rule on how long you could play one system. So there’s that outside chance you may not be able to play a certain gaming machine the entire night you go as was the case for our group.
Next up was the food. You can find their menu online here. We ordered an array of different items like the Scotch Egg (egg wrapped in sausage, breaded and deep fried), Not Your Fries (fries topped with BBQ sauce, shredded pork, dice tomatoes and jalapeno), some fried sides and the burgers.
To be completely honest, we weren’t too impressed with the food. They all seemed very much like your standard bar fare. As one of my friends said, the burger and fries were indistinguishable from many other bars. Having some non-fried items like a grilled chicken sandwich would have been nice as well. Generally the food was average to slightly below. Since one of the burgers came out late, our server comped the fried pickles for us.
If anything at Grinning Goblin, it’s not the food that will keep you coming. It’s the ability to have a nice establishment to play games with friends and family. The service there was very friendly which will be the biggest key deliverable for a place like Grinning Goblin to succeed.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
