Word of mouth is the best form of advertising. While scrolling through Facebook, one of my friends highly recommended Fairmount Coffee Company. I’ve driven by this place many times but never stopped in. After seeing his trusted suggestion, I bumped it up to the top of my list of places to try this week to check it out for myself.

The 2,000-square-foot location offers plenty of comfortable seating, conference rooms and a patio. Located right by the Wichita State campus, there were plenty of students that came in after I arrived to study, take a break from class, chat with friends or just hang out.
I brought in my iPad to work on some things over the lunch hour. I loved the ambiance and found myself sitting there longer than planned. The warm cup of tea along with the Reese’s peanut butter cookie made it much more enjoyable. It was all very relaxing.
Since it was lunch time, I couldn’t just settle for a small snack and a drink. I also ordered a sandwich. I went with their WSU Grinder which included pepperoni, salami, smoked ham, diced red onion, vine ripe tomato, pepperoncini peppers, roasted red peppers, provolone cheese and creamy spiced Italian vinaigrette on Italian bread.
It was wonderful. The sandwich was nicely toasted to keep everything in tact. At no point did it become soggy and hard to manage. It was flavorful and just what I needed. I loved the mix of different meats that worked well with each other. The roasted red and pepperoncini peppers were the perfect compliment to all of it as well. Sometimes sandwiches can be hit or miss for me. The WSU Grinder was a homerun in this instance.
Between the quick service, ambiance, and food, I loved what Fairmount Coffee Company brought to the table. I wish we had a place like this when I was in college. But I won’t complain because I had The Cedar.
