Over a year ago, my friends and I all stopped by HomeGrown right when they first opened. We were slightly unimpressed. Knowing it was during their opening, we were willing to give it a second chance. Since then, nearly all of my friends went back and gave it positive reviews. They said the quality of service which was lacking in our last review was much better. They also commented on how much better the food was. I was the last person who hadn’t made a return visit so that’s exactly what I did last week.

The wait on the weekends can be well over an hour especially on Sunday. So I used the NoWait App to check in. It was perfect. It allowed me to see my place in line and my estimated time or arrival. When we made it to HomeGrown, we waited just two minutes to be seated. It was PERFECT! I’d highly recommend NoWait to all diners.
To start, we had coffee and their pumpkin pie pop tart which was on their seasonal menu. I’m a huge fan of pumpkin pie and that’s exactly what the inside of the pop tart tasted like. I could have gone through twenty of those things.
For breakfast, I ordered off of the seasonal menu. My server recommended me the salsa verde pork & egg which was rosemary potatoes, shredded pork, Monterey jack cheese with salsa verde and pico de gallo and topped with two eggs. My girlfriend went with the croissant French toast. Then since it was fall, we split the chicken noodle soup.
I was so glad my server made the recommendation as the salsa verde pork and egg was beyond delicious. The shredded pork mixed in with the salsa verde, pico de gallo and egg dripping over the top was mouthwatering amazing. Each ingredient complimented the other perfectly. My girlfriend liked her meal but didn’t find anything to be extremely special about the croissant French toast. She felt it was pretty basic. What she did love though was the chicken noodle soup. The noodles were hand rolled on site. They were thick egg noodles swimming in a wonderful rich chicken broth that made you close your eyes and smile after each bite. Chicken noodle soup ranks up there as one of my favorite soups of all time and HomeGrown knocked it out of the park with theirs.
Life’s all about second chances. There have been many times after a not so positive review, I’ve gone back to a restaurant because over time things can improve. So we are certainly glad we went back. HomeGrown has really stepped it up over the past year. It was definitely good enough to warrant another return visit to try their lunch.
With the No Wait app, better food and even better service, we can finally give HomeGrown a thumbs up.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
