Mexican restaurants are far and few between in Derby, KS. One of those options is La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant. I’ve heard many good things from readers and friends so we decided to swing by to check them out.

Let’s start with the chips and salsa. Both were tolerable and similar to your standard Mexican fare. Nothing stood out but at the same time, they were decent enough. The salsa had a high garlic content and the chips were fried nicely.
The menu which you can find here is very massive. It spans multiple pages and seems to be one of those ‘jack of all trade’ Tex-Mex restaurants that serves everything.
Everybody ordered something different but I was only able to get a couple pictures of the meals. I personally had the enchiladas verde. Other friends had burritos, tacos and quesadillas. Prices were all reasonable and not a single person was dissatisfied with their food. Everything we was decent but also reminiscent of every Tex-Mex place we’ve been to. We can see the allure of the place though as they were extremely busy.
Admittedly service was a little on the slow side. From getting refills to even getting our ticket, there was a longer than usual wait. La Hacidena’s food wasn’t bad at all but it wasn’t extremely memorable. They were extremely clean so they had that going for them. It’s one of those places I would go to out of convenience if I was in the area.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
