On National Taco Day, we wanted to make a stop to a restaurant we’ve never been to that served tacos. While looking at all the specials around town, we ended up settling on MiMi’s OldTown Mexican Restaurant. They had tacos available for $1.50 that day along with $1.50 tacos every Tuesday.

We were given complimentary chips along with mild and hot salsa. My girlfriend loved their mild salsa. If you love salsa with a strong garlic flavor to it, you’ll love MiMi’s. Their hot salsa packs a big kick to it. I mixed both of their salsas and found myself really enjoying it.
Their menu, available on their Facebook page, is just limited to four meat options: al pastor, carne asada, carnitas and chicken. We ordered all four along with a side of rice.
For starters, their chicken taco was quite delicious. Often times, we will order chicken tortas, chicken enchiladas, or chicken tacos at restaurants and the chicken is incredibly dry and flavorless. That was not the case at MiMi’s. Of all the tacos, the al pastor was our favorite. While the tacos were all of the smaller type, they were packed with plenty of meat and still worth the $1.50.
We wouldn’t go out of our way and call these the best tacos in town but they were good enough that we would certainly go again. As for the service, they were really on top of things. Our server was very friendly and worked hard to make sure everyone in the restaurant was taken care of.
