Paradise Donuts recently opened inside the original 86 Cold Press location at the Renfro. With 86 Cold Press moving further down Douglas, this allowed the popular donut shop out west to add a downtown location. We stopped by over the weekend to get our hands on the timeless class that is called a donut.

Inside you could really smell the fresh aroma of donuts. We were very excited to give this a try. There was a younger gentleman working that morning and for one reason or another he just wasn’t the most pleasant or engaging employee. He was very inattentive and just gave us the vibe he did not want to be there. This would show later on.
We went ahead and ordered an apple fritter, a glazed donut and a breakfast burrito to go. When we arrived home, we found out he didn’t even give us an apple fritter; it was a blueberry donut. That was very upsetting. It really sucks to drive out of your way for donuts, spend the money and find out you received the wrong one. I’m sure it was an honest mistake by the employee but given his attitude, we could see why it happened. And because of the messup, perhaps it subconsciously gave us the feeling that the donuts were average.
The breakfast burrito was probably worse. It was premade and kept in a fridge. Once it was heated, it was bland. The meat didn’t have any seasoning, no salsa was offered and I’m not sure that would have helped, and the tortilla texture was a bit tough.
Needless to say this is one donut shop we will not be returning to.
