Sometimes you just crave a burger so while looking at restaurants I haven’t been to, I saw there was one burger joint on the list I needed to visit: 31st Street Phat Burgers. Let’s check them out.

When I walked in, I immediately asked for a recommendation. The gentleman working the counter suggested I get the Phat Burger. It was their best seller and featured egg, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, pickles and green onions.
I opted to go with that despite the fact they had other tremendous sounding items on the menu like ribs, catfish, wings and hot links. It took around 10 minutes to be cooked and once it was ready, chow town commenced. The fries were fresh out of the fryer, excellent and well seasoned. I finished those all off in no time.
As for the burger, I wanted to like it but just couldn’t bring myself to. I wanted my patty to be a little juicier and this one ended up being on the dryer side. The egg and mayo helped out a little but not enough to make the burger stand out to me. If I go back, it would be to try something else on the menu.
For those into food challenges, they do have a 6 patty challenge with a few hot links along with fries. It runs roughly $38. One guy actually completed it in ten minutes. I wasn’t able to get all the details as the gentleman at the counter didn’t know all the specifics. But if you’re into those challenges, it’s something worth looking into.
Here’s their menu:
