Churn & Burn’s east side location doesn’t lose a step

Churn and Burn

It can never be too cold for ice cream of any kind. That was our thought process when we stopped by Churn and Burns second location for our first time. We wanted to stop by and see if it was any different than their original location on south Oliver.

Inside the place has a nice bit of character; it was comforting and very welcoming. Please disregard the pumpkins on the table. We stopped by on Halloween evening when everyone else was trick-or-treating.

While the kids always get ice cream that’s made to order, we stuck with the “Churn and Burn” options. What is that you ask? Here’s what their website says:

If you love both coffee and ice cream, you’re in for a treat! Our Churn & BurnsTM are a combination of either freshly brewed espresso or cold brewed coffee, churned right into our handcrafted cream base with your choice of mix-ins. We have recommendations or create your own combination. We have over 100,000’s of combinations you could possible come up with using our bases, sauces, syrups and mix-ins. We make the products after you have order to ensure the freshest possible beverage by freezing it with liquid nitrogen at -320 degrees. This means there is no freezer burn and the flavors of the product are at there best. Making it fresh also allows us to make it without preservatives similar to recipes in the 1800’s.

I usually get the Tiramisu but wanted to do something different. So I ordered their pumpkin Churn and Burn seasonal made with real pumpkin bread while my girlfriend asked for the staff to surprise her. They recommended the white chocolate delight which was vanilla ice cream with espresso and white chocolate.

Both were delicious. I should have ordered the pumpkin seasonal in a small because it started to get really heavy on the pumpkin flavor. The white chocolate delight was beyond delicious. With a espresso fit in so well with the white chocolate and vanilla ice cream. We regretted not ordering a size bigger or twenty of them to take home. It was a first for us and we were so thankful for the suggestion from the staff (which is why it never hurts to try new things). Both handcrafted ice cream & coffees were just what we needed to end our evening on a high note.

Churn and Burn

The staff there was incredibly friendly, dressed up for Halloween and had such a positive attitude to them. It made the experience all the better. There’s no doubt we will be returning in the near future even if its below zero outside.
