Latin food in downtown Wichita excites and amazes

Sabor

Sabor Latin Bar & Grille has been a lunch destination for Wichita By E.B. before. It’s one of those restaurants I have visited, loved but never wrote about. The fish tacos there have always been a popular choice not just for myself but many other diners. Then I realized, I’ve never had dinner here before! So why not make a visit to one of my personal favorite downtown restaurants in the evening?

Service has never been a problem with Sabor and this visit was no different.

For dinner I had the Sabor paella while my girlfriend had the Salvadorian pupusas. The paella was a huge insurmountable portion of food. The picture doesn’t do it justice. It included Spanish rice, a roasted chicken leg, andouille sausage, mussels, shrimp, calamari and veggies. It was a beautiful, delicious blend of ingredients that paired so incredibly well. I’ve had paella at plenty of restaurants before and this was one of the best. My girlfriend enjoyed her pupusas. She’s been spoiled on them at some small little hole in the walls around Wichita and actually preferred those to Sabor but still liked her dinner. The orange Poblano sauce had a nice zesty kick to it that really livened up the savory flavor of the pupusas. What really surprised her was the black bean mousse that came on the side. It was an excellent side to go along with her dinner.

As we prepared to get our ticket, we found out another couple purchased us dessert. It was an incredibly kind and “pay it forward” type of gesture. The dessert was a mango cheesecake. It was excellent. It had a light mango flavor that stood out but didn’t overpower the dessert. We couldn’t have imagined a better way to end our dinner at Sabor.

We had a great time at Sabor. Service, food, ambiance, mood, everything was top notch. It was my first time every trying something besides their fish tacos. Straying away from my usual order paid dividends and left us satisfied. I really need to add this to our regular dinner rotation. Someone give us suggestions on what to get next time in the comments below!

Here was their dinner menu:

Happy Dining,
Eddy
