Time to add another off the beaten path establishment to your list. If you are up to the challenge of breaking the mold and venturing out to some of the less talked about places in town, we’ve got one right here for you. Minisuper Aguascalientes is a Mexican supermarket in a strip center off of 47th street, not too far from the ever popular Bomber Burger.
Inside the supermarket, sits a full service Mexican restaurant that has all the authentic food you could ever want like tacos, birria (w/ goat), menudo, fajitas, and so much more.

I was actually introduced to this place by my brother who happened to come across it with coworkers. He actually went before, took pictures and reported back his findings. Unfortunately those pictures were accidentally deleted and are gone. He let me know the tacos, fajitas and especially the super nachos were great. They were so big and delicious, it was just as good as a meal as it was an appetizer.
I stopped by recently and settled on some tacos. Complimentary chips and salsa were given to dine-in customers. Chips were alright but the salsa was fire and that was just the mild version. They would later give me some of their homemade hot and mild salsas. The hotter of the two salsas was intense. The tears would literally evaporate as they dropped from my eye. Of all the tacos I had, the tripas tacos were beyond phenomenal. They had a nice smokey crunch to them and packed with flavor. Al pastor and carne asada were also ordered and I was more than pleased with them. The tortillas held together well and at no point fell apart. The meats were seasoned well and not salty at all. My only complaint was they went a little heavy on the onions.
Surprisingly enough, there actually aren’t that many small little Mexican restaurants in that area of town. This one tucked away inside a supermarket is well worth it though. I have to go back for the birria on my next visit.
The people working the supermarket and doubling down as restaurant staff were so friendly. They were working their tails off the afternoon I came in for lunch. Imagine having to be a cashier, server, manager, busser, all at once. That’s one of the things I love about these family owned businesses. They work their tails off and really embody what I love about local businesses. Great food; great service. That’s a win in my book.
Here’s their menu:
Happy Dining,
