I continue my way through Towne East Mall food with a stop to Villa Italian Kitchen. They are located right in the heart of the food court. Their menu consists of the Italian basics ranging from pizza to subs to pastas. I remember growing up on Sbarro’s so wanted to see just how good this compared to nostalgia.

It’s always interesting ordering pizza by the slice. You wonder how long it’s sitting out, how fresh everything is, and the quality. For example, the picture below doesn’t look appealing. I remember thinking to myself, “Great, look at how unappetizing this looks.” Regardless of that, I did my civic duty and ordered a supreme pizza which they heated for a few minutes. The slice ran me around $5 after taxes.
The pizza reminded me of a Tony’s oven pizza you get in the frozen food section at the grocery store. After the first few bites, it tasted JUST LIKE a Tony’s oven pizza you get in the frozen food section at the grocery story. I didn’t see much of a difference in quality or the need to spend $5 for a slice versus a few dollars for the entire thing at Dillons or Wal-Mart.
When I started to try to compare it to Sbarro’s I then realized it’s been decades since I last had it. For all I know, I just had fond memories of eating it as a kid.
Nothing too special about Villa’s pizza for me. It was about spot on to what you’d expect at ordering pizza from the mall.
