One national travel website, Travel Noire, recently published a list of the best chicken and waffles in every state.
As the site stated, “Chicken and Waffles has become such a staple in American cuisine that you can find restaurants from all over the world who have become inspired by this Southern comfort food”. No wording was given on how they came up with these results and if they actually went to all fifty locations.
Travel Noire then listed one restaurant for each state. Beer Kitchen was listed for Missouri and isn’t far a drive from Wichita; neither is Mama E’s in Oklahoma City.
But if you want to minimize your drive and go somewhere local, for Kansas it was Doo-Dah Diner that was listed as top chicken and waffles.
The article which you can read here said, “The Doo-Dah Diner in Wichita pours sausage gravy over its chicken and serves the waffle with a side of chocolate-coated bacon. Unconventional, but it consistently receives rave reviews. A must-try.”
