When it comes to Taco Fajita Restaurant on south Meridian, they are prominently known for two things: dollar tacos and the 2-foot long machete. They are dishes of two different sizes to cover the smallest and largest of appetites. Let’s take a deeper look.

One of the most popular items people go there for is the dollar taco. These aren’t your standard size of street tacos. While small in stature, they still pack a ton of flavor. I’ve had many different meats off of the menu and they have always tasted great, seasoned well and surprisingly filling which is rare for the smaller size single tortilla tacos. Usually an order of five will be more than enough for me. Taco Fajita offers three different types of salsa, one mild and two hot. If you love some heat, ask for the orange colored hot salsa. It was incredibly hot but delicious. I could remember the tears evaporating as soon as they dropped from my eyes.
Then there is the machete. It’s so long, it hangs over a food tray. For $10.70 which includes tax, you get an quesadilla-like dish that measures two feet in length. It’s filled with the meat of your choice, white cheese, grilled bell peppers and onions. Once prepared, it looks like a machete and ready to inflict damage on any appetite. I had this on my most recent visit there for my first time and was knocked out upon finishing it. It truly is a dish to behold and try at least once.
The food has always been wonderful at Tacos Fajita and the staff has been equally as great. Admittedly the time to get your food can be a little on the slow side with everything being made to order but it’s worth it.
