Get the 'Prairie Dog' weekly special at Wheat Street Dogs while you can.... seriously

It was too nice to stay indoors. I had to step outside to get lunch. Warm weather almost always calls for a visit to a food truck. While stopping by ICT Pop-Up Urban Park, I noticed Wheat Street Dogs was there. For those unfamiliar with them, they serve handcrafted meat free street dogs & sausages made here in Wichita. I’m not vegan but I love food so why not give them a try, right? Their stuff is fantastic. Since it’s been a while since my last visit, I had to see what they were cooking up.

I wasn’t aware but they have a different weekly special every week and this week it was the Prairie Dog. It is their handcrafted vegan dog on a toasted bun with fresh jalapeno slices, Sarah Jane’s Jalapeno Relish (which is beyond amazing), their housemade vegan ranch dressing, crinkle cut potato chips and chopped green onions. It costs $7 which was a price I was willing to pay for something completely local and made by hand here in Wichita.

Let me tell you all something, it was seriously one of the best dogs I’ve ever had. I’m not kidding. I love Sarah Jane’s anything so I’m probably completely biased but the relish mixed in with their vegan ranch dressing and jalapeno slices was such a burst of delicious flavors that elevated the entire vegan dog. It was creamy, yummy, amazing and any other positive adjective you could find in the dictionary. The chips gave it a nice texture that meshed well with everything.
