Sitting at the northeast corner of Douglas and Walnut is the newest coffee shop in the Delano District. It’s made headlines with their decision to eliminate tipping and hoping to make more headlines with the coffee they serve. It’s Leslie’s Coffee Co.

With plenty of seating in the 2,000 square-foot space, Leslie’s Coffee Co. was designed with what the owner hopes the community wants. Inside the spacious interior offers a ton of natural light to help you kickstart your day.
As mentioned earlier, they have a no tipping policy. To counter the no tips, the owner did increase the employees hourly rate and set her menu prices a little higher. This is actually a common practice in Europe and honestly takes the stress away from a consumer like myself. I liked it quite a bit actually.
Since they’ve opened I’ve gone multiple times by myself or meeting with friends. It’s always been a relaxing little spot for me. While I’m not a coffee drinker, I tried their Onyx blend because 1.) it was recommended to me and 2.) I really enjoyed the rap group Onyx when I was in high school. The coffee went down smooth for me but don’t take my word for it as I’m not a regular or knowledgeable coffee drinker. I just try new things people recommend me without batting an eye.
Like all reviews of it’s kind, it wouldn’t be fair for me to review their actual coffee. I’m not a coffee drinker and am slowly trying it one by one at the places I stop by. I hope these little write-ups can create more awareness and give you more suggestions to consider when looking for coffee beyond the national chains.
