For five years, Georgio’s II BBQ has been carrying on the tradition set forth by it’s predecessor, Georgio’s Restaurant. From April to part of December, Georgio’s II BBQ has had a mobile food stand with two big smokers and serving customers in a parking lot at 13th & Hydraulic.

My friends and I stopped by and the first issue we noticed was punctuality. We arrived just a little before 12:30pm in case there was any sort of rush and they were not there yet. Shortly after, the two smokers pulled up and it took them a while to set up. It wasn’t until 1:15pm when they were able to start serving so a 45 minute wait.

Once we were able to get our orders in, it didn’t take long for the food to be served. We ordered a variety of the Georgio Sandwich which included brisket or pulled pork, a rib dinner, and some Oklahoma links. One of my buddies wasn’t too impressed with his Georgio Sandwich just staying it felt average to him while the other two really enjoyed it. For starters, it smelled like smoked heavenly goodness. One guy loved the brisket; it was tender and flavorful. So good, he intended to go back on his way home from work. The Oklahoma links brought some good heat as well.

I had the rib dinner and they messed up my sides but after waiting so long, I didn’t want to deal with waiting or going back to ask for a different side. I was tooooo hungry. The beans were alright but I was really craving some collard greens which sounded good.

Now for the ribs. It was supposed to be a three rib dinner but what I received look like a 2½ rib dinner which was incredibly disappointing. On the bright side, the ribs were wonderful. It was fall off the bone, fork-tender, juices still running down the side good. In fact, they were really good. Only thing that could have made the experience better was receiving 3 full sized ribs at 12:30pm.

For most of us, we really did enjoy our meal there and would go back. One friend said he’s been wanting to try their food for a long time and was happy to finally make it out there. If they can get their punctuality and quality assurance issues corrected, this would be a great stop on the north side of town. Remember they are only open Thursday through Sunday.
