A month ago, Thrive Restaurant Group closed the Good Egg but made sure to not leave their fans empty-handed. Just around the corner, they opened the second HomeGrown location in the former Backwoods space.

Like the west-side HomeGrown, this new east-side location can get busy. They highly recommend diners use theĀ NoWait App to check in. It’s great and allows you to see your place in line and an estimated time of arrival.
Once we arrived, the interior had that same appeal of the original.
In our visit over lunch time, we ordered the Cuban, corned beef hash and the seasonal tortilla soup. For how busy they were, our food came out in a very timely manner.
The tortilla soup was very light yet flavorful. It wasn’t thick, rich or terribly salty. We both really liked it. Things kept going uphill with the rest of our entrees. The slow-roasted pork really stuck out in the Cuban; it was tender, tasty and terrific. We couldn’t imagine a better piece of bread to place it in instead of the Cuban roll. Lastly, the corned beef hash was a true meal of beauty. There were nice chunks of corned beef mixed that filled me up quickly. Mixed in with the peppers, onions, potatoes, two eggs and hollandaise, it was a concoction of flavors that meshed so incredibly well together. This was actually the meal I wanted to order on my previous visit but it was worth the wait.
Given our last visit to HomeGrown where we left impressed, it was the same story on our stop to the new east-side location. While it was sad to see The Good Egg close down, HomeGrown has done an excellent job of picking up the pieces.
