Have you ever heard of MOXI Junction? They are a coffee shop, art gallery and bakery that also serves a strong mission to give those with special needs a chance to make it in the workplace. MOXI stands for Moms of Exceptional Individuals. It’s owned by moms of special needs children and adults who also serve as employees. I had never heard of them until perusing through Instagram and seeing pictures of their treats. Just another reason why restaurants should utilize social media. It’s free and the easiest way to attract new potential customers.

I’ve only seen pictures of their treats. So when we stopped by Saturday morning, we had no idea what to expect. I was expecting a coffee shop in some strip center but was surprised to see it in the middle of a neighborhood.

There was an instant charm to MOXI Junction. It was similar to what you’d expect in College Hill but with a lot more color to it. The walls were painted with an assortment of colors. Paintings, shirts, and other handcrafted pieces of art were displayed everywhere. It was like a mix of College Hill and the Rusted Rooster (in Andover). There’s also an upstairs area with additional seating available.

They had an assortment of different pastries on display. It was a huge battle trying to decide what to get.

After some debate, we ordered the pepperoni, mozzarella stromboli, a caramel pecan roll, and then a few other treats to go. We also ordered a chocolate bunny mocha and a caramelicious latte.

It was an amazing start to our Saturday. My girlfriend took a bit of the roll and instantly commented about how it reminded her of something similar her mother used to make. The stromboli was a filling combination of cheese and pepperoni that left us full. Our drinks were delicious too.

We have yet to try the other treats but plan to soon because who doesn’t want a cinnamon roll or scone for lunch?

The atmosphere there was wonderful and extremely friendly. You can really feel the love there. It’s the type of eatery that every neighborhood deserves. To my surprise, they’ve been around for about five years. It was definitely worth the drive for us to explore and find something new. I loved it and you probably will too.

Here’s their menu:

Happy Dining,
Eddy

  1. I discovered Moxi Junction about 4 years ago. My favorite thing to do is to introduce new people to this quaint coffee shop with its delicious homemade pastries and varied coffees. They also make fresh fruit smoothies to die for, but the best features here are the people .

Many Fridays in the summer they reopen in the evening , usually with musical entertainment on the patio. Talk about a 🎉 party!

It is definitely worth the trip to Maize!
