The newest tenant at Union State is now open. Wichita Cheesecake Company hopes to be your first option for all things cheesecake. We stopped by during their opening week to get a glimpse of what diners can expect.
Unfortunately the property owners decided to do some construction during the weekend so you will have to deal with that until it gets completed. Once it’s done, you can expect a patio to dine at. Inside there isn’t any space to dine at, they appeared to still be getting the interior situated as well.

Wichita Cheesecake Company makes around 30+ different cheesecakes but only a handful are available each day. I compare it to a Tanya’s Soup Kitchen where it’s a different menu depending on the day. One recommendation I have for them is to post on Facebook what is available each morning so diners can know what to expect.
Each slice of cheesecake cost $5. To be honest, I don’t know how that is compared to other places in town as it’s not often I order cheesecake. Some people may be taken back by the size of it for what you pay but I’d have to dig around more to see what other restaurants charge before making any final say on value.
On the day we stopped by, they had four flavors available: Peanut Butter Cup, Snickers, Strawberry and New York (w/ cherries). We ordered three slices and were on our way. The staff working inside was very engaging, polite and friendly.
Everybody seemed to enjoy their cheesecake with the exception of one person. One of my friends wasn’t too happy her slice of Snickers was much smaller than the others. After we took a closer look it was and by a significant margin. I’m not sure what they use to cut the slices but consistency may be another area of improvement.
Otherwise everything was good. The Peanut Butter Cup was extremely rich. Since it was so rich, I snacked on it for most of the day. So perhaps it was a good value considering how long I savored it. My girlfriend enjoyed her strawberry cheesecake but could have done without the strawberry syrup though. Besides that it was lighter by comparison and more airy.
Since it’s a dessert shop and still going through their opening phase, I think it might be a little too early to make a call on Wichita Cheesecake Company. I have had their New York before at Fish & More and was very impressed with it. Let’s give this one another go once the patio is up and some other flavors are available like Blood Orange, Strawberry Margarita, Pineapple Upside Down, Swirl, Banana Pudding and more are on the menu.
I’ll update the blog once I get a hold of what their hours are exactly.
Here’s their menu:
Happy Dining,
Eddy
