With the closing of Sweet Basil, some people were wondering where else one could go for an Italian lunch buffet. Little did some know that Bella Vita Bistro has had one for quite some time now. Recently they made the change to only make it available on Fridays.

For $11.95, you get a scaled down version of what you can actually get from the dinner menu. One of their back rooms had a table with all the buffet stations set up.
The buffet line included house salad, smoked salmon, pasta salad, potato salad, garlic knots, veg du jour, pot du jour, chicken caccaitore, lasagna, pork masala, Gouda bacon pasta, assorted cheesecake, tiramisu and a couple other desserts.
Personally I’m a big fan of Bella Vita Bistro and have always really enjoyed their food. As I mentioned earlier, it’s a REALLLY scaled down version of their menu so you have to go into it knowing that if you’ve been there for dinner.
For the price, everybody enjoyed it and found a few things they loved. My favorites aside from the multiple pieces of tiramisu I had were the chicken cacciatore and lasagna. The sauces in both dishes were delicious. The chicken was tender, flavorful and filling while the lasagna was really good by lunch buffet standards. Even though it could have used a little more sauce, that didn’t stop me from going back multiple times for it.
Like any buffet, you have to into it realizing it’s just that….a buffet. If it’s your first time ever going to Bella Vita Bistro, just know that their food is way better than what is found on the buffet line. But on the flip side the buffet is also a good option for those who are trying to get their best bang for the buck in terms of Italian food. Temper your expectations and then had back later for dinner service where I think it shines even more.
