Can there be too many shaved ice trucks in town? I say no. The latest stop brought us to Kona Ice. They are a colorful tropical shaved ice truck that you’ve likely seen around town.

At Kona Ice, price range at $3 and $5 depending on the size you want. You can also spend $6 or $7 for a larger color change or collectible cup that allows you to get refills for $3. So that’s something to keep in mind if you’re going to frequent Kona Ice.
Like other trucks, they have many preset combinations you can choose from. There’s also the option to create your own for no additional charge. And when I say create your own, I literally mean that.
There’s a patent-issued Flavorwave station with ten different flavors to choose from.
We ordered one of the Flavorwave options and a couple color-change cups.
Pro-Tip: If you’re using the Flavorwave, do not put too much syrup in yours or it’ll melt the ice quicker. I learned this the hard way.
Otherwise you should be good to go if you don’t put too much syrup in there or if you stick with a preset order.
One thing I did notice was the ice isn’t as smooth or soft as some of the other competitors around town but it wasn’t too different that it ruined the experience.
If you enjoy shaved ice, chances are you’ll enjoy Kona Ice.
