Every amazing movie needs a cast of co-stars to make the film better. Forrest Gump had Lieutenant Dan, Jenny and Bubba. Shawshank Redemption had Red, Heywood, Tommy and the rest of the inmates. Happy Gilmore had Chubbs and Shooter.
And just like movies, every taco needs a good salsa. But where can you find some amazing salsa? None other than Taco Fajita.
Located at 1004 S Meridian, Taco Fajita Restaurant is known for their dollar tacos; delicious ones at that. But what they should also be given props for are my favorite homemade salsa in town.
There are four options to choose from, a mild option, a guacamole salsa and two spicy ones (orange and red).
Of the four, both of the orange-colored salsas stick out the most. It’s almost an atomic orange color with an atomic blast of flavors. One of the orange ones is mild while the other has a nice bit of heat that is delicious. It’s not the type of spice that just tries to burn your taste buds off. It’s one that wants to leave some heat but keeps you coming back for more.
The mild option has a lighter tone to it while the spicy version gives a more neon hue.
I asked the staff if they had a name for it but they didn’t. They just said they make it in-house with a combination of different peppers and spices.
Since they didn’t have a name for it, I’m dubbing it “Best Damn Salsa in Town“, mild and spicy version.
