Wichita has no shortage of quick style Chinese restaurant. It’s one of those styles of restaurants where none of them have really blown me away. If I finish my meal satisfied, that’s usually a win. Maybe I’m a little too hard on these restaurants but I have yet to really find one that has completely wowed me. Spoiler alert: Good Fortune Chinese Restaurant was no exception.

Good Fortune Chinese Restaurant was smaller than your typical spots like Great Wall or Dragon City. There was less seating which dwindled down even more since one of the dining tables seemed to double as a desk for the employees.
On our visit, we ordered some kung pao shrimp, lo mein noodles, and hot and sour soup.
For starters, the hot and sour soup was mostly hot. I think it was the chef’s goal to make it as hot as possible and strip away any flavor in the soup. I had maybe five or six spoonfuls before I threw in the towel.
Next up the shrimp dish was very remedial with my steamed rice being extra mushy. Everything was really bland and just a letdown. I expect average food at quick service Chinese restaurants, this was all below average. Then to round it out the lo mein was average at best; not too salty, nice portion size but nothing really going on with the noodles in terms of seasoning.
There are much better options around town for Chinese food. In my personal opinion, this ranks towards the bottom of them.
Here’s their menu:
Happy Dining,
