Let’s talk Java Villa. They’ve been in town for what feels like decades. When it comes to places to eat, they very rarely come up in any sort of discussion so I want it to be known. Don’t forget about these guys when it comes to bierocks!

They have a big sign outside advertising ‘homemade bierocks’. I’d be lying if I said it was my first ever stop. I’ve probably been by at least 4-5 times over the past few years and finally talked my lazy butt into writing about it.
They have some of my favorite bierocks in town. The bierocks run $3.49 but they also have some small breakfast bierocks for $1.
Even at a dollar, the small mini-breakfast bierocks are stuffed to the edge as seen below. There were plenty of sausages and eggs packed in each one. It wasn’t so airy or mostly bread. I don’t like it when bierocks give this false image of being stuffed with so much food. That is never the case at Java Villa. It’s always been filled with delicious ground beef and shredded cabbage. The dough has a nice color and soft to the touch after being warmed up.
Now that I’m trying to immerse myself in the coffee world, I have to go back stat and try one of their hot drinks to pair with a bierock. I’m pretty sure you won’t be let down by one of Wichita’s older coffee shops. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Here’s their menu:

Eddy,
Glad to see that you reviewed Java Villa. I think Kevin (owner and chief cook/baker) makes some of the best bierocks in town. Of course, any place called “Java Villa” has great coffee and makes great coffee drinks as well, but do yourself a favor and get a piece of pie or two when you return for one of their coffee drinks. Kevin makes excellent pies and they’re made from scratch. You’ll have a hard time beating the quality of Java Villa’s pies at any restaurant in town. Notice too EB readers how reasonably priced the coffee drinks are. Of course, he wants to make a profit but isn’t fleecing his customers in the process.
Do yourself a favor and stop by Java Villa soon. Have a bierock, piece of pie and a coffee drink. Maybe even take a couple of bierocks and extra pieces of pie home for another day. The bierocks freeze well.
