Little Saigon Revisited

In terms of popularity, Little Saigon, is up there for Vietnamese restaurants. They have a big following even though Saigon is right down the street. With both places staying relatively busy, it proves that Vietnamese food is a big fan favorite in town.

I recently stopped by with some friends over lunch to revisit the restaurant.

The three of us all ordered something different. We went with a rice, noodle and soup dish to get a little variety. We had some bun, fried rice and the chicken & kim chi soup.

The food didn’t take long to arrive after we ordered. If you’re one of those people with a big focus on portion sizes, there’s nothing little about the plates at Little Saigon. Everybody was beyond happy with how much food they received.

I had the chicken & kim chi soup and knew I was not going to be finishing it. There was a bed of rice underneath the soup. Chicken, kim chi, fresh onions, cilantro and a decently spiced broth covered the rice. I’ve never had anything like it. The predominant flavor in the soup was the kim chi which I really enjoyed. I could probably eat kim chi for all meals of the day so I loved how it was the full feature in this dish. There was plenty of chicken in the soup and the rice gave it the much needed substance to fill you up. Two thumbs up from me.

Two of my buddies also thoroughly enjoyed their bun and rice dishes. I didn’t get much in the way of comments from them besides the “Man, this is really good.” Needless to say, words weren’t needed as empty plates did the talking.

We were all very happy with the food we had at Little Saigon. Our one major gripe there was our server was nearly non-existent after the food was delivered. Service definitely needed some improvement otherwise everything else was great.
