We’ve been trying to cover different and unique experience families can try and one that caught our eye was glassblowing at Karg Art Glass. They have sessions until the end of the year that allow you to create your own ornament.

From now until December 31st, you can blow your own ornament every day, except for Wednesdays and Sundays, from 9 am to 2 pm. This was something we tried to do last year but spots filled up, and we were unable to get in. This year we made sure not to miss out.

They said blowing your own ornament is best for ages 5 and up.

On the day of your appointment, you can choose the style of ornament you would like along with the colors.

After that you headed back into the back room where all the magic took place. They had the glass ready to go and dipped it in the colors of your choice.

We took five kids in the family, and they all had a great time, shared some laughs and just oohed and awed at the ornaments being made. Instead of trying how it’s all done, perhaps it’s better explained in this short video.

Ornaments are ready in about 4-5 days. We haven’t picked them up yet but when we do, I’ll be sure to share the final results in this blog. Aside from that the staff was very professional, patient and courteous throughout.

Now many of you are probably curious how much this cost. Ornaments are $35 plus tax and it is all by appointment only. Those spots do fill up fast as we found out last year. If you’re scoffing at the price, just be aware this is something you get to keep forever…… as long as you don’t break it. We made one for my 5-month-old daughter and it’ll be cool to have through the years as a little memory from when she was younger.

Definitely a fun unique experience in town worth trying.
