Jefferson’s Review

We made a quick pit stop in Lawrence, KS and decided to stop by a place called Jefferson’s. It was recommended to us by a friend while we were looking for a quick family friendly stop for food.

When we arrived, we were seated immediately and our server had our drinks out in minutes. She made us aware that wings were on special that day for 50 cents. A couple of us went with an order of 12 wings while the kids ordered chicken strips and fries.

We loved how the food didn’t take long to arrive. The kids were mixed on the chicken tenders. It’s hard to always gauge a child’s opinion on food because we feel it can sometimes go with the mood they’re in. But everybody agreed that the what appeared to be frozen crinkle cut fries were great. I don’t ever care if food comes frozen or not, as long as it’s good, I’m good. They were lightly seasoned but fried spot on to offer a good crispy texture.

Unfortunately the boneless chicken wings were a fail. They were pretty tough as if they were fried just a little too long. The sauces varied from mango habanero to Nashville hot to medium and not a single one really stood out to us. Great value but we were disappointed with the wings. From the tough texture to the sauces that lacked a good flavor that resonated with our palates, we were underwhelmed. The mango habanero provided a bunch of heat but that’s all you could taste…. the heat.

They kept forgetting our dipping sauces but other than that the service was good. The place is known for three things: wings, burgers and oysters. We tried one of them and wasn’t too pleased but perhaps the burgers and oysters would be better served on your visit there.

Here’s their menu:

Happy Dining,
