First Look at Pho KC

The Vietnamese restaurant, Pho No 1, quietly closed down last year but just like that a new restaurant has taken over. Pho KC Vietnamese Restaurant cleaned up the interior and kept the menu relatively the same. Word is the original owners of Pho MC started Pho KC. So with that said, let’s check it out.

As noted, they gave the inside a nice little face lift.

Like any first time visit to a Vietnamese restaurant, I started off with a couple spring rolls for $3.99. They came out quickly and extremely meaty. I loved how thick they were and very filling; a great start to my lunch.

Then I had a large bowl of their house special pho which came with rare steak, brisket, tendon, tripe, and meatball. After sipping a few spoonfuls of broth, I was quite impressed. It wasn’t too rich but very flavorful with a subtle hint of star anise in each sip. There were generous amounts of meat inside the large bowl with noodles to match. The best way to describe the pho? Delicious.

There’s been an immense amount of change in the Wichita pho scene with multiple ownership changes at many restaurants, temporary holiday closings, etc so it was nice to walk into something new and get a great bowl of pho. The first look was a positive one, so I’m excited to return to explore the rest of the menu.

The future looks bright for Pho KC.
