Big news! Sorrel’s Jamaican Food is now located in downtown Wichita. They moved to 222 S Commerce which once held The Hungry Heart. Sorrel’s which originally started as a food truck then moved to a building off of east Central then over to west 13th street. They are now hoping the third time’s the charm for a brick and mortar location.

For my first visit to their new establishment I went with two of my favorite dishes: their jerk chicken wings and the oxtail.
The wings were some of the best in town. They tasted exactly like the jerk chicken served regularly on the menu just with a lot more sauce drizzled over the top. The mild version of the wings were meaty and very flavorful. And the aroma? Wow.
As for the oxtail, it was an amazing dish. It’s a dish that requires a bit of work because of all the bones but it’s still worth it. I”m not sure what kind of sauce or broth it all sat in but it was just heavenly. It was sweet yet savory at the same time. It was accompanied by some slaw and rice that went great with the meal.
On top of the great food, I love the family who runs the place. They are so pleasant, enjoyable and generous. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in all of Wichita and I highly recommend it.
Here’s their menu:
Happy Dining,
