Kanai officially closed after 10 years in Wichita

A while ago, I caught whim that the popular west-side sushi restaurant Kanai was offering sushi classes for parties of 8 or more. I thought this would be the perfect thing to do for my birthday.

Upon reaching out to them, owner Marie Kanai, would tell me they would be unable to host a class because they were planning to close the restaurant for good and move to New Orleans. She told me it wasn’t public yet as they wanted to make the announcement themselves.

And that day came. After 10 years 2 months and 6 days, Kanai closed their doors for the last time over the weekend. Marie Kanai and Chef Kanai are planning to start the next chapter of their lives in New Orleans and made the news public on their Facebook page.

I’ll truly miss Kanai. It was one of my favorite restaurants in town and always worth the drive. I wish them the best.

Now to find some other fun, unique thing to do for my birthday.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
