There are a TON of chicken options in Wichita. That sentence alone is an understatement.
We stopped by to dine-in and order some food to go. Our order consisted of a chicken sandwich, wings and a bunch of tenders (some for dine-in and others carryout). We were told everything was made to order so it wasn’t just tenders sitting under a heat lamp. Even with a busy restaurant, the food came out fairly quickly.
The chicken sandwich was described as OK and satisfying. I was told it wasn’t anything special as were the fries.
As for the wings, they ran a little on the small side but I really loved the sauce options they had. The sriracha garlic and sweet red chili were phenomenal. I loved the sweetness they offered with a subtle spicy kick that gave my taste buds a pop.
The biggest winner in everything we ordered were the signature chicken tenders. This was such a big hit with the kids who raved about them and constantly want to return. The tenders were very tender, juicy and tasty. The breading was light and provided a bit of seasoning. What was impressive was the tenders didn’t require much sauce if any at all. Often times the kids will dip their tenders in whatever sauce they can get their hands on. So it’s a testament to how good the tenders are with no sauce. Only thing to note about the tenders were they were smaller than many places around town.
One big deterrent for Slim Chickens some people may see is price. It’s a little on the pricier side when compared to the competition around town. In terms of value, size and price, this could be a turn-off for those who aren’t willing to pay. But it’s worth giving the tenders a try to see if the quality is worth it. Since the kids love it, it’s a place we will likely return to.
Another thing to add is the cleanliness of the restaurant. The staff did a great job of cleaning tables when customers left. With how busy they were, it’s something I really appreciated. How often do you go to a busy restaurant, try to find a seat, only to find it’s filthy? On top of that, the staff there was really nice which was a plus.

Next time, try their potato salad. It’s my favorite!
