More carryout visits continue with a visit to Taco Rio. In my family, everybody has a different favorite fast food Mexican restaurant. One of those is Taco Rio. We recently saw a post online asking for diners to support the restaurant which was struggling during the COVID-19 outbreak.
We are doing what we can to do our part and decided to grab our lunch from the little taco spot at Douglas and Seneca.

At Taco Rio, their menu is larger than many of the other fast food Mexican restaurants in town. Here’s their menu:
Like any fast food taco review, I need to add a caveat. Not all tacos are created the same. When I’m comparing tacos, I would never compare a Taco Rio taco to a Tex Mex spot or a street taco. It’s not apples to apples and there’s obviously a big difference in quality and taste. While we love delicious street tacos as much as the next person, there are times we crave a fast food taco.
On our visit to Taco Rio, we ordered a bit of everything on the menu. We had taco burgers, sanchos, tacos, enchiladas, tacos and the chips and cheese sauce.
To start things off, everybody loved the cheese sauce. It’s not your typical cheese sauce, there’s something they add in there to kick the flavor up a couple notches. The kids LOVE it and it’s a staple of every order.
Probably the biggest difference between Taco Rio and any other fast food taco joint is the amount of meat they pack in. I’m a fan of many other spots in town but nobody beats Taco Rio with how filling their food is.
As for the food, you essentially know the quality you’re getting at a fast food restaurant. It’s rare any place will “wow” you but at the same time, if you’re satisfied that’s all that matters. At Taco Rio, I was happy and satisfied with what I had. Personally I had the enchiladas and taco burger and was STUFFFFED!
Everybody else loved their food. It goes without saying as it’s probably the first suggestion I hear out of their mouths when asking where to go get tacos from.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. When it comes to fast food taco places, Taco Rio is certainly up there in the discussion for best in town.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
