The taste of Tijuana at Tacos TJ 664

Their food truck was uber popular and would draw big crowds but it was time to move on to bigger and better things. Tacos TJ 664 opened up their own brick & mortar restaurant in the former space recently held by Mo & Izzy’s Hash House on north West street.

Having loved their food truck, it was just a matter of time before I stopped by their new restaurant.

During my brief stop over lunch, I asked the cashier what I should order and he made the recommendation of some birria tacos and vampiros. So I went with that along with some other tacos. I also had a small cup of consume as I felt it was necessary with the birria.

I forgot to snap pictures of everything but here is what I did fit it.

Wichita has been incredibly blessed with many amazing taco options in town and Tacos TJ 664 was no exception.

Their tacos were packed to the max and offered a double shell tortilla that did an amazing job of keeping everything together. Dipping my birria tacos in the consume was a flavor explosion that tickled my taste buds with glee. Adovada was also a big hit for me.

Vampiros are a must try if you love cheese. The cheese is melted on to the tortilla and topped with your protein of choice. There wasn’t a meat I disliked. I loved how everything was seasoned. Seriously they would be in my top ten taco restaurants in town.

On top of all this, their service was fantastic, the interior was clean and the speed was quick over lunch. I can assure you this will be getting another review in the future.
