With the lockdown of big events, that doesn’t mean the Farmers Markets in town have to go away. Wave is launching the Funky Fresh Markers Market online to assist local farmers, producers, service industry employees, and families in need due to the COVID-19 crisis. The market is set to launch online March 23rd. See the press release below for all the info.

Wave to be a temporary hub for local farmers and producers effected by the closure of restaurants & farmers markets within our community. Funky Fresh Farmers Market set to launch online next week.

Funky Fresh Farmers Market is being launched as an online farmers market by Wave & local farmers/producers as four-pronged effort:
-To ensure our local farmers and producers have an outlet for their product.
-To give unemployed service industry employees the potential for work.
-To help get fresh nutrient dense food to those in need.
-To ensure our local community stays stocked with amazing fresh meat, produce, and locally sourced items throughout this crisis.

How it works:
If you are within a 15-mile radius of downtown Wichita go to funkyfreshmarket.com or waveict.com & order your products.
-Choose to have the products delivered to your doorstep. Delivery occurs every Wednesday & Saturday.
-Or choose parking lot pickup at Wave, much like ClikList. Pickups occur every Wednesday & Saturday.
-You can also choose to have products you purchase delivered to families in need, as a donation.

“Every day is a new day with ever-changing opportunities and challenges. We must adapt and overcome the obstacles in front of us with the tools we have. Farmers and ranchers are tough, smart, and want to build resilience into their farms. That means building healthier soil, stronger community, and consistent outlets for their products. The conventional process of getting food to the supermarket doesn’t help us when the shelves are empty. Regenerative local farms are in a position to fill the needs that many of us are feeling right now. Real, fresh, nutrient-dense food is what we need now more than ever. This crisis has proven the need for people who are willing to question our agricultural paradigm and make the changes necessary to feed their communities. We will not be the same when this is over, and that’s ok. Our ‘new normal’ must be more sustainable in every way. I’m glad that some of our neighbors are growing the healthiest food possible, and we are going to make it available to you in a safe and convenient way,” says Zack Bell, an organizer of Funky Fresh Farmers Market and local producer.

Once it is safe for us all to gather, Funky Fresh Market will begin occurring as a traditional Farmers Market every Sunday outdoors at Wave.
