20 Kid Friendly Activities for Your Family in the Wichita Area

Sooner or later the Covid-Crap will calm down and families will be allowed to get out and do things. Whether that’s next week, next month, or next year, I’m craving activities and look forward to the day it’ll be safe to partake. Until then, I decided to make a list of kid friendly activities I plan to do with my family….. a bucket list of sorts.

If you have the itch like myself, hopefully you will find this list useful. In no particular order:

1.) Sedgwick County Zoo
Fortunately I was able to make it out to the zoo earlier this year but the place was so busy due to the weather being nice. I look forward to packing up the stroller, watching some animals and perhaps even a food review at one of the little cafes there.

2.) Tanganyika Wildlife Park
I purchased an annual membership and have yet to use it.

3.) Splash Aqua Park
The aqua park that opened in south Wichita is high on my list. I can only imagine how sore my body is going to be the next day after I’ve been a lazy pig at home for the past couple months.

4.) Arcade Games & Prize Redemption Games
Whether it’s The Arcade, Grinning Goblin Gaming Tavern, Headshots Bar & Grill, or Dave & Busters, I need my fill of games.

5.) Bowling
As a former bowling league champion, it’s time to take everybody out to Northrock Lanes, West Acres, The Alley, the upcoming Round1, or many of the other bowling alleys and show them my talents.

6.) Escape Rooms
If you’ve been following this blog for quite some time, you’ll know we are HUGE escape room fans. So you can expect a visit to The Room, Escapology, Wichita Room Escape from us.

7.) Exploration Place
I’m a nerd and probably enjoy this place more than anybody in my family.

8.) Field Station: Dinosaurs
I’ve never been and have heard varying reviews on this place but I’m all about forming an opinion myself and have this near the top of my to-do list.

9.) Rock River Rapids
The kids have been wanting to go here and getting me out of the house to experience something is not a big ask. I’ll be there this summer.

10.) Trampoline Parks
Whether it’s Aviate, Get Air, or even Urban Air, we will be stopping by at least one of these places to get our trampoline fun.

11.) Miniature Golf
Who doesn’t love a game of putt-putt? So a visit to one of the All Star Sports facilities, or as I call it Sports World, is a must.

12.) Catch a Wichita Wind Surge Baseball Game
Checking out our new baseball park is a no-brainer.

13.) Blade & Timber
Not sure if the kids will enjoy axe-throwing but I’m anxious to find out.

14.) Botanica – Joyland Carousel
We still have yet to ride the carousel at Botanica…..

15.) Starlite Drive-In
After the mess-up by the city, I feel it’s only right to celebrate Starlite’s re-opening the moment they are allowed to.

16.) Nerf Wars
Hopefully Battle Quest or Nerf Warz BattleField & Arcade survives the pandemic. I have a custom Nerf gun awaiting my use….like I said, huge nerd over here.

17.) Chicken N Pickle
Who doesn’t love a good fun round of pickleball?

18.) Spring Lake RV Resort
It’s been years since I’ve last been to Spring Lake right outside of Wichita in Halstead. It’s time to return.

19.) Going to the Movie Theatre
One of the biggest things I’ve missed while staying at home? Sitting in a movie theatre. Whether it’s one of the Regal theatres or AMC Theatres if they re-open, I need a relaxing evening in a reclining chair.

20.) Lake Afton Public Observatory
Getting closer to the stars is one of the more unique things to do in town.

Anything worthwhile I’m missing? Chime in the comments below!
