Cheeseburger Egg Rolls & Bang Bang Shrimp Egg Rolls from Urban Skillet

While perusing social media, I came across a food truck that was selling cheeseburger egg rolls and bang bang shrimp egg rolls. The truck was one I’ve been to before but since I am a fan of fusion foods, I made my way back to Urban Skillet to give these a try.

Usually it’s best to order the egg rolls ahead of time by calling, emailing, or contacting them online the day before. A dozen egg rolls cost $20. If you don’t call in, they will have a limited amount available the day of. Those ran 1 for $3, 2 for $5 or 3 for $7.

Just like my Christmas shopping, I waited until the last second and showed up to the truck and fortunately they still had some of each version available.

To no surprise, the egg rolls tasted just as they were advertised. The cheeseburger egg rolls had a thicker texture similar to a Chinese egg roll. They were stuffed with hamburger and cheese as one would guess. I ended up dipping them in some ketchup and mustard at home which made them even better.

My favorite though was the bang bang shrimp egg rolls which had a thinner exterior shell like a Vietnamese egg roll and came with a little bang bang dipping sauce. They weren’t as heavy feeling as the cheeseburger egg rolls and had a more vibrant, brighter taste if that makes sense.

If you’ve been following the blog for sometime, you’ll know I’m such a sucker for fusion foods and anytime attempts are made to put unique spins on popular dishes. I could definitely go for these again.
