First Look at Cool Breeze Pizza

Wichita’s newest pizza joint has officially opened. Cool Breeze Pizza took over the former Chiquita’s Corner and Roxie’s in Riverside space. They are owned by the same family that brought  R Coffee House and Adios Nachoria at Wave to life in Wichita. There aren’t many pizza options in the Riverside area so I was excited to hear about the new concept and stopped by to check it out.

The restaurant does mostly carryout business and is perfectly set up for it. Orders are placed at the counter and there are a few tables set up outside. Once things get back to normal, diners will be allowed to bring their pizza into R Coffee House across the street as a dine-in option.

Cool Breeze Pizza’s concept is simple, to bring 10-inch artisan style pizzas to Riverside. You can expect the menu to consist of many creations that will change from week to week and include toppings like chorizo, balsamic reduction, lamb and a weekly special that is made from local produce.

For instance, the special this week was Green Machine which was a garlic base, turnips, turnip greens, asparagus, feta, and balsamic reduction. It was made with ingredients from Orie’s Farm Fresh and Serenity Farm.

We decided to order the Green Machine along with two other pizzas. Take a look below:

Top Dolla – Italian sausage, garlic roasted mushrooms, red onions, pepperoncini, pepperoni, marinara, Kalmata olives (we opted for no olives)
Green Machine – garlic base, turnips, turnip greens, asparagus, feta, and balsamic reduction
Bandito – marinara, chili cheese Fritos, chorizo, roasted chicken, jalapenos, avocado crema

What surprised me with the 10-inch pizza was how filling they were. The pizzas were cut into six slices and after six I had to take a break.

Each pizza came on a thin crust but it had a dense texture with plenty of toppings to really fill you up. The Top Dolla pizza which was my favorite for example, was deceivingly big.

It’s definitely a nice addition to the neighborhood. I look forward to spending a afternoon at the 11th & Bitting area once we are all allowed to and have a nice beverage from R Coffee House paired with a pizza from Cool Breeze.

Here’s the menu they had for this particular day. Keep in mind the pizza offerings will rotate over time:

Happy Dining,
Eddy
