The restaurant is located inside the marketplace. As you walk in, the counter for Big Dog Shack is the first thing you’ll see.
My brother and I stopped in on the same day to check it out. The menu which you can find at the end has hot dogs, nachos, burgers, hot links, brats, Italian sausage and there’s even a breakfast menu of simple breakfast staples offered between 7 and 10:30am.
On our visits, we had the hot link, nacho dog combo, hamburger, waffle fries and a brat with sauerkraut. Everything came out in a timely manner. There were even tables out front people could dine at which I opted to do given how nice the weather was. While I waited for the food, I browsed around the marketplace. It was like a small town convenience store with random knick-knacks here and there. Here’s what they had inside:
After I was done walking around, I grabbed the food and moved outside. The one common thing we both noticed in the food was how soft the buns were which we loved. My brother said the hot link had a good spice level because who wants a boring bland mild hot link, right? So they did a great job there. The chili on his hot dog was hearty and thick which complimented the thicker hot dog as well. He loved the jalapeƱos added over the top to give it some heat but said the cheese wasn’t anything too special as were the waffle fries.
I had the hamburger which 1/3 pound Angus patty. While it wasn’t incredibly juicy, I enjoyed the seasoned ground beef as it was reminiscent of a backyard BBQ burger. It was simple, efficient, no frills and a decent meal. The biggest disappointment though was the brat. While the bun was soft, the brat may have been softer. It was incredibly mushy and the sauerkraut just didn’t do it for me. It had a very sour almost skunky taste to it. I love sauerkraut on everything but theirs was not my cup of tea.
My brother enjoyed his meal much more than I did. He said he’d order it again and wants to go back to try their breakfast food. As I mentioned the burger was decent and the brat was very underwhelming so my opinion was much different but I could be swayed into going back to try the Italian sausage.
For what it’s worth, the staff there was very nice and did a great job of getting the food out quickly. Check it out for yourself as your opinions could always differ from ours.

Happy Dining,
