The Samoan special available for a limited time at Mo’s Hut

I was given a heads up that the Hawaiian restaurant on East Central, Mo’s Hut, had a special going on. They were serving a native Samoan dish on Saturday. I’ve never had Samoan food before. Nearly all of my knowledge of anything Samoan came from watching WWF/WWE with the Wild Samoans, Yokozuna, The Usos, Peter Maivia and the list goes on and on. So when I was told there was something new in town I could try, I jumped at the opportunity.

I was told the special was called “The Big Uce” (pronounced oose); I hope I spelled that right. I didn’t even ask what or how much it was. The only words that came out of my mouth were, “Let’s do it.”

The plate rang up as $21.25 so I figured there was probably going to be a lot of food in it. I was right.

The special consisted of: Potato Crab Salad, Corn beef Chop Suey (Clear Noodles), BBQ Chicken, Turkey Tails, Shrimp and Banana & Coconut Milk.

Guys, the picture doesn’t do it justice. It was a ton of food and a meal for at least 2, maybe 3 people.

It reminded me of the Molcajete dishes found at Mexican restaurants where they just stack as much food on top of each other. There was so much protein on it, I had to take a break from eating, go write this blog and go back to eating.

There was so much going on and so much goodness on it. The BBQ chicken was awesome as was the chop suey. The shrimp had some seasoning on it that kept me coming back for more. I have to also mention the potato crab salad that I finished off right away.

This venture was a one-man show and I am beyond bloated after eating it. Seriously don’t do as I did, share this with a loved one. Don’t be selfish.

…..or be selfish and buy two if you don’t want to share.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
