I’m all for walking into places I’ve never been to. A new coffee shop called Placeholder Coffee opened inside The Lux where Espresso To Go Go used to be, so I figured I’d stop by to check it out.
Placeholder Coffee was started by the owners of Little Lion Café inside Revolutsia. Here’s a quick look at what to expect on your first visit.

I always preface my coffee shop articles with this: By no means do I consider myself a coffee drinker. Will I drink it? Yes, but I’m not in the business of reviewing coffee shops. At the same time, people come here to learn about new places. I’m of the thought process if you’re a big fan of something, it’s best to try all the options out there. So, if anything, use this as a resource to learn about another option for coffee.
Placeholder Coffee is located inside The Lux on the ground level. There’s an external entrance right off of 1st street. Upon walking inside, you’ll see a little coffee shop with limited seating. Keep in mind with COVID-19 going on, there was no seating available indoors.
There is a limited food menu that includes house made granola, yogurt, pastries and Little Lion’s breakfast burritos and ice cream.
The latter was perfect timing as I stopped in on National Root Beer Float Day. Placeholder Coffee had a one-day special that consisted of Maine Root Beer blended with Little Lion’s sweet cream ice cream. It wasn’t your traditional root beer float but boy was it delicious! Everything was blended together and topped with whipped cream. I nearly had it finished before I left my parking spot.
I also ordered an iced coffee to go on the way out.
Like I said, if you’re all about trying new places and venturing all over Wichita check out Placeholder Coffee.
