Latino Hot Dogs Review

Over the weekend, I stopped by a recent transplant to Wichita, KS all the way from Houston, TX. They cater, they have two mobile trailers and specialize in hot dogs and hamburgers. They are Latino Hot Dogs and they also go by Elatino Dog on Facebook.

They have two locations in Wichita that advertise as being open at 4pm. I stopped by their Central & St. Paul location around opening and was told it’d be another hour. But they let me know their 21st & Waco location was up and running. Slightly annoyed but since I was on a mission, I tacked on the few extra miles and made my way to the 21st & Waco address.

I went with their Sonora dog along with mango spaghetti. Basically, it’s kind of what one would think it is; mango cut up thinly like spaghetti but topped with Chamoy, gummy bears, chili and more.

It’s probably nothing like what most people have had before and worth the adventure.

As for the Sonora dog, it was probably the best one I’ve had in town. I think I’ve eaten maybe 5-6 Sonora/Sonoran dogs at various restaurants and trucks and Latino Hot Dogs took the cake. The bun was thick and soft and topped with a variety of condiments. I asked all what was on it but started to lose track as they mentioned every single ingredient. Thank the Lord there were no beans on their version of a Sonora hot dog though!

It’s not often I start to feel full after one hot dog but Latino Dogs seemed to do the trick.

Only downside of my visit was I had to make two stops instead of one. Sometimes punctuality can be a problem with the food trucks/mobile vendors. I’m hoping this was just a one-time occurrence because the Sonora dog was awesome and could definitely go back for another one.

My only other suggestion for them is to change their Facebook page from a personal page to a business page. At the current moment, you have to add them as a friend to stay up to date on their business which most people may not want to do.
