The Kansas Star Casino opened back in May. At first, they just had slot machines open but later made the table games available to gamblers. Since the Woodfire Grille had their prime rib special taking place (2 for 1), I decided to swing up to check out what the COVID edition of gambling was like and get some prime rib.
I’m not much of a slot machine type of guy. I love games like blackjack, craps, roulette, Pai Gow poker and Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em.
The casino implemented quite a few changes to help keep gamblers safe. Masks were required at all times unless you were eating or drinking. I saw many dealers staying on top of everyone to make sure their masks were on, not just on but on properly. All table games were limited to three per table. Craps and roulette, I was told allowed more people due to the larger tables.
When I sat down to play some Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em, I was given hand sanitizer and asked to clean my hands before playing. The biggest change that I loved was no smoking was allowed at any of the tables. You could smoke at the slot machines but not at the tables or any of the bars or restaurants.
I played for about an hour, made enough to pay for my dinner and some. I walked over to Woodfire Grille and when I arrived, the hostess told me they were booked for a while and couldn’t get me in without a reservation for a few hours. She then also told me the bar was completely reserved. The whole point of my visit was to finally check out Woodfire Grille and was disappointed I didn’t get the chance. So, that’s something for you to keep in mind if you’re going…..reservations.
My sad stomach turned around, and we made our way back to find something else to eat and leave. But before I left, I put some money on roulette. I chose the dates of my daughter’s birthday and IT HIT! Not all was lost on my visit to Kansas Star Casino. I didn’t get the prime rib I was hoping for but walked out a winner with a couple hundred extra dollars in my pocket. All of which will likely go towards food this weekend.
If you plan on heading to Kansas Star Casino anytime soon, that’s what you can expect. Good luck.
