Opening later this week will be the first Torchy’s Tacos in Wichita, KS. We stopped by their soft opening event to get a quick first look at what you can expect on your visit. The new taco restaurant based out of Texas is located at 2191 N. Rock Road at the southwest corner of 21st and Rock Road in the former Clark’s Fine Jewelers/Mattress Firm space next door to Pizza Hut.

They did a great job of completely renovating the building.
There’s a patio in front of the building that wraps around the north end.
Once you make it inside, an arrow directs you to the start of your dining adventure.
All orders are then placed at the counter. It’s a pretty simplistic menu of taco creations which is also available at the end of the blog.
Once your order is placed, it’s off to the beverage station.
A bar is also available if you want to make it a “damn good” time.
Next up, grab a table. Each diner is given a buzzer with a number. The Torchy’s staff then brings your food to you.
Since I was invited out to a soft opening before the opening, I tend to keep personal thoughts out of it on these first looks. In these instances, the service is very personal, the food can be free, and/or perhaps corporate could be in town training to really skew the experience even more. Instead of giving a full-blown out review, here’s a look at what we ordered. Then once the newness has died down, I’ll go back in for a real review with some friends who’ve never been to get different perspectives.
We ordered some queso and guacamole as our appetizers.
Here were our tacos.
That’s the basic gist of what you expect to see on your visit to Torchy’s Tacos should you stop by. They will be opening later this week. If you go, I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments below.
