I wanted to have a little fun with the readers. Every year, the Wichita Eagle publishes their reader’s choice awards. Any sort of poll is sure to draw questions and ire; that’s the nature of any voting. I was curious how the readers here would vote different if I held a similar poll. In August, many of you cast your votes on your favorites in 51 categories covering food and drink in the Wichita area.
Now that the Eagle’s awards have been announced, I wanted to release the Wichita By E.B.’s People’s Champ winners in the first ever People’s Choice Awards. At the same time, I wanted to compare them to the Eagle’s winners to see what differences there were.
Who was the People’s Champ in each category along with the People’s Choice finalist in each of those categories? It’s time to unveil the results!

Great list(s). My personal choices have more in common with your readers than the Eagle. We are blessed with great variety and quality in the town. But El Agave? No way, no how. If I never went there again it would be too soon.
