A while ago, the national publication Taste of Home listed Krispy’s Fried Chicken as the best fried chicken in the state of Kansas. Anytime a place is named the best, it’s certain to draw some ire and put the restaurant under a bigger microscope. For me, I definitely agree with Taste of Home.

On my latest visit to Krispy’s, we kept our order basic: 5pc fried chicken, fried shrimp and okra. The 5pc was $7.49 which was a steal considering the prices you see at many of the national chains in town.
As usual, Krispy’s was on top of everything. The food came out piping hot and ready to make the ride home with me.
Aside from the juicy, tender chicken, one of my favorite parts about their chicken is the breading. There’s a nice color to it that isn’t entirely greasy. It’s light yet very crispy as the name of their restaurant suggests. Every piece you get is meaty and incredibly flavorful. Basically, it’s fried chicken done right. That’s not to say other places don’t excel in it as they do. But what I’ve always seen in Krispy’s is consistency; it’s a place I know I can count on.
The same went for the shrimp. We received good-sized pieces of shrimp with a delicious breading surrounding it.
It was a delicious lunch that filled the both of us at a great price. Between the quick and friendly service, affordable prices and delicious food, that’s enough for us to put Krispy’s at the top of the debate for best fried chicken.
