There’s a new Asian restaurant taking over the space Kanai vacated earlier this year. Lilikoi Asian Bistro aiming to open around the third or fourth week of November.
Chef Greg Cook, who most recently spent time as the executive chef at the Hyatt along with other stops at restaurants in Colorado Springs and Las Vegas, will be taking the big leap and opening his restaurant at 12111 W Maple St. The corner of 119th and Maple also houses Felipe’s and Twelve Restaurant. This will be a welcome addition to the corner which had a void in Asian cuisine following Kanai’s closing.
Lilikoi translates to passion fruit and the restaurant which will have a full bar will feature many passion fruit themed cocktails on the menu.
As for the food, Cook describes the food as Pacific Rim Hawaiian fusion. He will have dishes like Ahi wontons and short ribs on the menu which has yet to be finalized The sushi bar inside Kanai has been replaced with a Build-Your-Own ramen bar. There will be roughly 12 different ingredients to choose from. Diners can then select how they would like to construct their ramen bowls.
When Lilikoi Asian Bistro first opens, they plan on doing dinner service to start. After time goes, the plan would then be to expand for lunch.
Once they announce an official grand opening date, I’ll be sure to share. Stay tuned for more.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
