Pho KC Revisited

While trying to decide on where to get some pho for dinner, my family landed on Pho KC Vietnamese Restaurant. I fell in love with their food on my first visit and was excited to introduce everyone to one of the newer places in town.

When we arrived, we all ordered some appetizers. We went with wings, spring rolls, egg rolls, and then a side of rice which we asked for to come out early because of the little one. Everybody then ordered a mixture of five pho dishes and bun.

Within what felt like minutes our main entrées started to arrive.

Everybody thoroughly enjoyed the food. The broth was rich and flavorful and the bun felt like an endless bowl of noodles, pork, pickled vegetables and other ingredients.

During this time, some of our appetizers came out. We had to ask for our rice again as our server seemed to forget. The wings were delicious. There was a sweet little glaze that was fantastic and loved by all. I didn’t get to try the spring rolls but have had them before and can attest they are packed tightly and filling. Nowhere to be seen though was our egg rolls.

By all accounts, the food was enjoyed by everyone. It matched my first visit to Pho KC in terms of quality. What was lacking on this visit though which kind of disappointed everybody at the table was the service. The restaurant wasn’t too busy and I’m not sure what happened to our servers.

We had to literally go out of our way to ask for refills when it was apparent our glasses were empty. Appetizers came out much later. We had to ask for food to be delivered like the rice. And we didn’t even receive our egg rolls. They did put it on our final ticket which we had to ask to have taken off. The food was top-notch while the service was non-existent. It sucked because I’ve spoken so highly of Pho KC, and they didn’t leave the impression I wanted them to for my family.

I hope the bad service was an off day because the food is so incredibly good. We’ll see what happens on the next visit.
