I’ve been to Alejandro’s Fast Mexican Food out east on south Rock Road but it was recently brought to my attention that the west side location on Maize Road was separately owned and operated. With that knowledge, I stopped by on a Taco Tuesday when tacos were a dollar for a quick, brief look at the Mexican restaurant in northwest Wichita.

I was already out in northwest Wichita doing some shopping at New Market Square, so I made a quick detour to Alejandro’s. It was Tuesday, tacos were a dollar and I couldn’t pass up on a good deal for tacos.
After looking around at other diners, it appeared the tacos were thick. I didn’t have a large appetite going into this visit. My small order consisted of a tripa, adobada and carne asada taco.
I still vividly remember eating the tacos at Alejandro’s in east Wichita. They were rather underwhelming and return visit only took place there after a long night of drinking. The west side Alejandro’s had a cleaner and livelier vibe to it. While I was there for a brief couple minutes to wait for my carryout order, it had a different feel than the east side location of no relation.
The tacos were also immensely better. While the tortillas could have used a bit of work as they got soggy and began to fall apart, the quality of the proteins were noticeable. I was a big fan of their carne asada taco. The meat was tender, well-seasoned and something I would have gladly eaten straight out of the tortilla with a spoon. It was delicious.
The adobada was also another hit with my taste buds; I thoroughly enjoyed the subtle sweetness of the meat. The tripa was probably third on my list; good but not great.
For $3, it was a phenomenal meal of great value. It was a quick visit to Alejandro’s but it made enough of an impression to make sure I return soon to explore the rest of their menu.

They may have good food but when I was there a couple of weeks ago not one of the employees was wearing a mask of any kind. I won’t return.
